TEMPTATION

Temptation can be a scary thing sometimes. Don't you think? I think so! Especially when it's something I'm battling with, or something I really want to overcome, and I'm not doing such a good job at it. I know - It's something most people don't want to talk about. But, sometimes we are tempted with things that we don't recognize as temptation, because we are so accustomed to living a certain way, and we enjoy our lifestyle. Until, we start to feel a guilty conscience.

JUST BEING HONEST

I want to share something with you about some changes I had to make in my life when I gave my life to Jesus in March of 1976. As I grew up there were certain things that my family did at certain times in our life that seemed normal to us. There were drugs, alcohol, violence, and any thing else that came with that lifestyle. Needless to say, I had a lot to escape from, a lot to overcome, and a lot to repent of.

LESSONS TO BE LEARNED

When I found the Lord, I had some drastic changes that needed to take place in my life. Even though I didn't choose my up-bringing; when I found the Lord I was responsible for not giving into temptation - if I really wanted to serve Him. But, I had to learn how, and why. Most importantly - what the consequences would be if I didn't. 

ROMANS 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

UNTAMED LION

That was not an easy task. I was so use to being able to do what ever I wanted to do, without having to answer to anyone. I was un-trained as a child, so I became an un-trained adult - free spirited - like a lion that couldn't be tamed, but needed to be.

I finally realized if I didn't overcome temptation, my sins would become my secret sins. Also, if I gave into temptation; no body would know, because I was behind closed doors. Little did I realize - my doors weren't closed at all. They were wide open. 

What I was doing in secret was not a secret at all! I was leaving the door wide open for even more temptation. I was letting all those crazy demons from my past have havoc over my life. I needed to learn how to shut the door, keep it shut, to keep them from looking in.

The only way to keep that door shut, to keep them from looking in, and having havoc over my life, I had to resist temptation, and be obedient to God.

Psalm 17:12 - Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

RESISTING TEMPTATION

No matter how hard you try, or what ever excuse you make, temptation is real. As long as there is good, and evil on this planet there will be temptation. We are all tempted. Even Jesus was tempted. Jesus had to resist temptation in the same way you, and I have to. He knows exactly what you're going through!

God has given you the power, and strength to overcome temptation. His power - His strength! The same power - the same strength Jesus used to overcome temptation. But, you have to be smart about it. PAY ATTENTION! God will always show you a way to escape!

1 Corinthians 10:13 - There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

DO YOUR PART - OBEDIENCE

One of the biggest challenges to overcome temptation is to control your thoughts. But, you can't do that if you are putting things in your thoughts that are the same things that you are trying to stay away from. By controlling what goes in your brain - you will also control what comes out of your brain, or your actions. Sometimes that also includes people that are still living the lifestyle that you are trying to get away from.

2 Corinthians 10:5 - Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

PRAYER = VICTORY

When I spend time alone with the Lord in prayer, I am always  victorious. It's impossible to spend time alone with the Lord in prayer - in the presence of God, and not come out with the presence of God. God's presence always stays with you. That is how you get His power, and strength to overcome temptation. YOUR REWARD IS VICTORY!

Matthew 6:6 - But thou, when thou prayest, enter into they closet, and when thou hast (shut thy door,) pray to thy father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. 

What you have to do is get the devil out of that secret place, and put God there instead!

GOD TAKES ACTION

After you have done all with God you stand, and watch God take action. But, you have to be obedient to Him. Taking the whole armour of God. Where God's armour is - God is there too!

Ephesians 6:13 - Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, (and having done all, to stand.)

Noah is another prime example of resisting temptation, and being obedience to God. It was a good thing too - that Noah did, because his life, and the lives of his family were at stake. Not to mention, the consequences if Noah disobeyed God! It would have been catastrophic to God's plan for mankind.

Noah knew God, and he knew God was coming with His power by way of the flood. Once Noah obeyed God by first: building the ark, then making sure his family, and all the animals were in the ark - God showed His power. God shut Noah, his family, and all the animals into the ark. GOD SHUT THE DOOR!

There is no power stronger than that of God's power - that can compete with the power of God - that would have been able to open that door! Let God help you keep that door shut by your obedience to Him.

YOUR OBEDIENCE TO GOD KEEPS THAT DOOR SHUT!

Genesis 7:16 - And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in.

God is there just waiting to show you his power, if you will just surrender too Him. You have to want to. You have to want God's power to be demonstrated to you. Don't you want victory over your temptations? DARE GOD to show you His power to free you!

JESUS' KNOCK

Jesus' knock should be the only knock at your door you hear. Jesus' knock should be the only knock you should answer too! To have total peace, and to have total victory over temptation you have to put Jesus at the door, hear His knock, and let Him in. Don't you want do have victory over temptation? LISTEN - JESUS IS KNOCKING!

Revelation 3:20 - Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

PRAYER OF SALVATION

If you don't know Jesus Christ as your Lord, and Savior, receive Him now! Just ask Him to come into your heart. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins - (wrong doings.) 

Romans 10:13 - For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

THE SECRET PLACE

"THE SECRET PLACE"

THE SECRET PLACE

If you could find your number one special place that is your paradise? How would you describe it? It's a place you thought was just a fantasy place in your mind. A place that is beautiful! There are gardens with flowers that blossom with such distinguished aromas for each, and every flower. There are endless fountains, and flowing's of living waters - with miraculous powers. Trees that never die, because they are trees of life everlasting. A place that is full of endless joy, comfort, and peace of mind. An atmosphere where there is no evil, or sadness. Would you go there? 

But, most of all - there is that one very special person you could count on too be there every time you need Him. He is: strong, courageous, loving, full of comfort, and joy. He has the power to make you feel strong, courageous, and victorious. He is perfect in every way! He never leaves your side. He teaches you how to stay strong, how to see the way that is set before you - so you don't stumble, and when you do stumble, He teaches how to get back up again. He's someone who is so perfect - you think it's impossible for Him too even exists! Would you go there?

Well! This place is real! Most importantly - He is real too!   

I find, I am the most victorious when I stay in that place.  THE SECRET PLACE! The secret place is with the Lord. It's a place where no one else can go! Just me, and God. When I seek His face. I don't ask Him for anything. I just praise Him, and adore Him at His feet. Praying in His sanctuary IS my sanctuary. I find, not only does God want to comfort me, and teach me how to stay victorious - but, He too receives comfort from me when I visit with him.

God loves it when we spend time with Him - just to be - with Him! The secret place is with the MOST HIGH GOD - The secret place is under the shadow of the Almighty - The secret place IS where He covers you with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust. It's where you find His truth IS your shield, and your buckler. He is always there for you. The secret place is with the Lord, and where you too will find victory.

Psalms 91:1+4 - 1) He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 4) He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield, and buckler.

WAIT

Some times waiting on the Lord is difficult. But, when we are waiting, we also learn to rest. When you are in the secret place with the Lord, you are at His mercy seat, resting, and waiting on Him - with Him. Which is the perfect place to be. He holds you tight so you can feel His renewed strength. Then - He wants you to MOUNT up with wings as eagles, so you can RUN, and not feel weary; you can walk His will for your life, and not faint, or waver, because your feet are planted, and grounded in Him. 

Isaiah 40:31 - But they that wait upon the LORD  shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. 

THE TEACHER

   Exodus 19:4 - Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and  how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.

"God's care over his people is likened to that of the eagle in training its young to fly."

"I once saw a very interesting sight above the crags of Ben Nevis. Two parent eagles were teaching their offspring, two young birds, the maneuvers of flight. They began by rising from the top of the mountain in the eye of the sun."

 "It was about mid-day, and bright for the climate. They at first    made small circles, and the young birds imitated them. They paused on their wings, waiting till they had made their flight, and then took a second and larger gyration, always rising toward the sun, and enlarging their circle of flight so as to make a gradually ascending spiral."

God's creations are always beautiful examples of His love, and how he wants to teach us to be victorious. He never leaves us, nor forsakes us. Even when we fall. He's always there to teach us how to get back up again. But, you have to plant your feet in His presence - His mercy seat, so He can continuously prove His love to you, and show you that you can do it - to show you that you can be victorious too!

Hebrews 6:19 - Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;

So, ask yourself this! Do you want to be victorious? "BE VICTORIOUS!" But, learn to be victorious from the MOST HIGH GOD - in the Secret place, and abide under the shadow of the Almighty. He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will trust: His truth will be your shield, and buckler. WOW! What a beautiful place to learn to be victorious. "THE SECRET PLACE!"

BROKEN

"BROKEN"

MATTHEW 11:28

COME UNTO ME, ALL YE THAT LABOUR AND

I WILL GIVE YOU REST.

ARE YOU BROKEN?

The heart of your broken soul is a place I know you don't want be. You feel crushed, full of anguish, and of agony. You have a knot in the pit of your stomach, and a lump in your throat. Your chest feels tight, and you can't breath. All you want to do is SCREAM! "I can't take this anymore!" But, you keep pacing the floor while your head is spinning around, and around.

You feel talking to someone about your pain is out of the question. Who would listen! Does anybody really care? Out of embarrassment you keep silent. But, you're still screaming inside, feeling physically exhausted, with no strength to fight. There's no one who understands that your are BROKEN. All you want to do is to be left alone to scream, and cry.

BEING SELF DESTRUCTIVE 

Finding ways to cope, and comfort yourself is just as agonizing as the pain itself. You keep choosing self destructive behavioral  patterns, just to find the gratification is temporary. You are impulsive, and reckless. You've tried drugs, alcohol, sex, and maybe even suicide to alleviate your suffering.

All you've done is put a band aide on your wounds - with no remedy in sight. Your wounds are locked up in side to fester, grow, and dominate your life. How much longer can you go on like this? You've tried everything - including profession counseling - (which I highly recommend.) But, some how you feel it's just not enough! You are broken, and searching for a miracle.  

 MIRACLE OF LIVING WATER

Your hope is not without a miracle.

Revelation 3:20 - Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Just go to your special place, and reach out! There is a knock at your door. The door to your heart. Open that door. Let Jesus in. He wants to comfort, and heal you with new refreshing food. But, you have to first let him in.
 

John 7:38 - He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Jesus wants you to believe, and trust in Him: so He can breath new life into you with His rivers of living water, which will bring you healing, comfort, and strength. His living water is continuous - It never ends. It is His cleansing power - that saturates your entire being, inside, and out.   

Revelation 7:17 - For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

God's sole purpose is to stand in the midst of His throne, waiting for you to place your broken spirit on His alter: to feed you with, and lead you to His fountains of living waters. He wants to wipe away all your tears. 

Jesus knows your agony. He knows exactly what you are feeling.
He also knows exactly how - what it's going to take for you to be healed, and stay healed. He felt that same agony when He prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane.

Luke 22:44 - And being in an agony He prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

God has been patiently waiting for you to reach out to Him. Just as you thought you have been waiting for him to hear you. The Lord has heard, and felt every tear drop. He has always been there waiting for you to reach out to Him. HE HAS HEARD YOU!

SOLID ROCK

But, now it's time to place your feet on solid ground. HIS ROCK!

Psalms 40:1-3 - I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord. 

Put your feet on His rock. Receive the gift of healing that He so richly wants you to experience. It's with abundance, and over flowing. He doesn't take it back. Establish your going, by staying in His word, prayer, and fellowship with other believers. Sing your victory song! Hold on to it. He will not let you go as long as you put your trust, and faith in Him. 

Remove all obstacles, and anything that reminds you of what broke you to begin with. Just stay focused on Him, and His word. You deserve to experience all the joy you've ever imagined. It is His gift for you. TAKE IT - BAITHE IN IT! It's not His will for you to be broken anymore! It never was. 

John 10:10 - The thief cometh not, but for to steal and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it MORE ABUNDANTLY.

Don't you want to be healed of your broken spirit, and to live your life more abundantly? Let the Lord in - Let Him prove His word - Let Him prove to you how much He loves you. TRUST HIM.
