"FIGHT LIKE A WARRIOR" (PART IV - CONCLUSION) SEEKING THE FACE OF GOD!

"FIGHT LIKE A WARRIOR!"
(PART IV - CONCLUSION)
SEEKING THE FACE OF GOD!

THE BATTLE IS REAL - THE VICTORY IS REAL!

If ever there is a time during a battle that I am VICTORIOUS It's when I am Seeking The Face Of God. I feel the battle coming from every side, the devil comes in like a flood. I am just overwhelmed with despair. I feel like a complete failure. I am at the end of my rope, and the knot is about to untie. All I want to do is give up!

(2Chronicles 7:14 - If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; THEN will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.)

 SEEKING THE FACE OF GOD!

But, I know I can't give up! My life depends on it! I am left with no other choice! I'm too weak to do anything else - but to pray, and Seek The Face Of God. This is not a time where I'm asking God for this or for that! This is not a time when I'm praying for this person or that person! This is a time when it's just me, God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

My experience is very intimate. I'm sharing this with you, because it's the only way for me to have victory, and feel beautiful in the eye's of God, and I also feel very strong, and victorious! It's a time when I get to Praise God for who He is. A time when I seek His Face, His Righteousness, His Glory. It's a time when I can just lay it all down, and forget about everything, Just rest in His arms, His Presence, His Glory, and His Righteousness.

TIME FOR - REPENTANCE - CRYING - HEALING

When I am seeking The Face of God, and worshiping Him in all His Glory - which is the most magnificent experience any human being will ever experience. It literally takes your breath away in this realm. My heart races with exhilaration. IT IS BREATHTAKING! I am automatically led to repentance. You can't enter the presence of God without repentance. You can't enter the presence of God without feeling the need for repentance. I'm sobbing with tear, I feel so unworthy to enter His presence, because of sin in my life - YET! I feel so privileged that He granted me the gift through Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior to enter His courts with thanksgiving, and praise. I can come to Him with boldness when I have a repented heart.

When I am done - if that's even possible, because you can't get enough once you've experienced the presence of God, I feel refreshed, and victorious! It is a tangible supernatural experience that takes place in your physical body. Not only do I feel victorious over my battles, but - I also feel strong enough to minister to other that also need victory in their lives.

GOD IS CAPABLE

Let me explain one thing I've learned about God. If you can imagine every person on face of this planet earth that believes in God, prays to God to pray and asks Him for things. That's a lot of people - a lot of prayers! All of which God is capable of answering. But, when do you or we ever come to God to just thank Him, and to be with Him for just who He is. God gets lonely. He hungers to share His Righteousness, His Glory, His Companionship with you, and He wants yours too! The only time that can happen is when you seek His Face.

TRUST ME!

You might be asking, " Well, what does Seeking the Face of God have anything to do with having victory over addiction?" Let me explain it to you this way! If you have Jesus in your heart, and you are humbling yourself before God, praying, Seeking The Face of God, turning from your wicked ways, THEN will God hear you from Heaven, forgive your sin, and heal you of your addiction. It is IMPOSSIBLE to enter into God's Glory, and not experience
victory, His victory in your body! When you enter into God's supernatural realm you experience supernatural victory! With God there is nothing but victory!

A DAILY WALK

Yes! It is a daily walk - yes! You have to Seek The Face Of God Daily! Yes! It is a sacrifice! But, you do want victory over your addiction don't you? You are worth fighting for! Jesus fought for you on Calvary. Now, you have to join Jesus in the fight! The victory is yours to take.

THE BATTLE IS REAL - THE VICTORY IS REAL!

(MATTHEW 19:26 - BUT JESUS BEHELD THEM, AND SAID UNTO THEM, WITH MEN THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE; BUT WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.)

FIGHT LIKE A WARRIOR! (PART III) THE BATTLE IS REAL!

"FIGHT LIKE A WARRIOR!"
(PART III)

THE BATTLE IS REAL!

There's no beating around the bush. I'm going to tell you like it is!
Overcoming addiction isn't easy. It's a hard battle, and the battle is real. If you want to win this battle you will have to FIGHT LIKE A WARRIOR! But, you have to prepare for battle.

PREPARE FOR BATTLE

(Ephesians 6:10-18) - 10) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the POWER OF HIS MIGHT. 11) Put on the WHOLE
armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13) Wherefore take unto you the WHOLE armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14) Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15) AND your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16) Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to QUENCH ALL the fiery darts of the wicked. 17) AND take the helmet of salvation, AND the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God: 18) PRAYING ALWAYS with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

A PRAYING WARRIOR

Now, I'm not going to explain each verse on how each piece of the Whole Armour of God works together in order for it to work, and how it applies to having victory over addiction. At a later post I will. But, what I do want you to, see right now is verse 18 the PRAYING ALWAYS - in the Spirit part. You can't use the Whole Armour of God, and expect it ALL to work unless you PRAY ALWAYS - in the Spirit! That's what makes it all or the Whole Armour of God work! That's what brings LIFE to the Whole Armour of God! That's you taking physical action. PRAYING ALWAYS in the Spirit puts you in the POWER OF HIS MIGHT. You are a warrior when you are Praying always, and wearing the Whole Armour of God.

PUT IT ON! AND FIGHT LIKE A WARRIOR! AND PRAY ALWAYS!

Read (PART IV) of "FIGHT LIKE A WARRIOR" where I also share how seeking the face of God, and His Glory puts God in the for front of you with every battle you will fight to win.

"FIGHT LIKE A WARRIOR!" (PART II)

 "FIGHT LIKE A WARRIOR!"
(PART II)

RECOGNIZE THE TRUTH

You've battled with addiction long enough to know you're addicted, and you are an addict or an alcoholic. You've seen what it has done to your life. You've lost everything - family, friends, jobs. Most of all, you are losing your soul - you spirit! Your addiction is eating away at your very core, and you can feel it. You need to free your spirit so you can fight like a warrior. But, in order to free your spirit, your have to fight the desires of the flesh - the desire for your addiction.

YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN

In order to do this you have to feed yourself - feed your soul, and your spirit with the very same food that your spirit needs to make you strong so you can fight like a warrior, SPIRITUAL FOOD - THE WORD OF GOD. Your soul and your spirit are two different persona's of who you are, and who God created you to be. Your spirit is what is created in God's image that is awakened when you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior - (BORN AGAIN) (John 3:6 - "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit") Your spirit that is fed by the Word of God is the ONLY armour that will give you the Power of God to fight, and fight as a warrior of God, which is why you need to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and why you need to saturate yourself with God's word. THE ONLY WAY TO FIGHT A SPIRITUAL BATTLE IS WITH A SUPERNATURAL SPIRITUAL GOD THAT IS THE CREATOR, AND RULLER OF ALL CREATION.

JESUS IS STILL A WARRIOR

God's Word is the only salvation for your spirit, and your soul. Your spirit needs Jesus. Jesus is God's word made flesh, the ultimate sacrifice to save your spirit, and your soul. Jesus paid the price on Calvary so you can fight like a warrior. He still fights like a warrior today with God, and His angels for your soul. Your battles are not fought alone. If there is any one who you can learn from on how to be a warrior from is Jesus. Jesus is a warrior in this realm, and in the realm where there are dark forces at work.

(EPHESIANS 6:12 - FOR WE WRESTLE NOT AGAINST FLESH, AND BLOOD, BUT AGAINST PRINCIPALITIES, AGAINST POWERS, AGAINST THE RULERS OF THE DARKNESS OF THIS WORLD, AGAINST SPIRITUAL WICKEDNESS IN HIGH PLACES. Read all of Ephesians 6:10 - 18 Putting on the whole armour of God.

Read part (III) "FIGHT LIKE A WARRIOR!" Where I share the ultimate experience of fighting like a warrior through the power of prayer.

"FIGHT LIKE A WARRIOR!" (PART I)

 "FIGHT LIKE A WARRIOR!"
(PART I)

Overcoming addiction is more than just a process, and more than just overcoming a disease. In order to overcome it - you have to TARE IT APART! Addiction is not just a battle - Addiction is not just a fight - Addiction is a WAR. It's not just a war within yourself, It's also a war with unseen forces - unseen forces that don't want you to win this war over your addiction.

Before you can overcome your addiction you have to learn how to fight! But, you have to learn how to fight like a warrior. You also have to want to fight like a warrior. Believe me - a warrior is what it's going to take, and when you do overcome your addiction, a warrior you will be.

You just didn't just wake up one day, and decide "Hey! I think I want to become an addict today - or an alcoholic - or be a victim to all of the above!" You didn't choose to have an addictive personality, or an inherited gene that led you to your addiction, or self medicate. Maybe you are addicted to drugs because of an injury, or illness. Worse yet! Maybe you are drowning in your addiction because you were traumatized as a child by sexual abuse. Yes! (WE WILL DISCUSS ADDICTION TRIGGERED BY SEXUAL ABUSE AT ANOTHER POST)

But, at some point you did choose to take that first step that led to your addiction. Now you have to deal with it. You can either continue to feed your addiction, or you can fight your addiction.

You don't like having an addiction, and you don't want to be an addict. Oh! you're just fine as long as your addiction is fed - CONTINUOUSLY! AT A COST though! It's when your addiction isn't fed that you have the problem. Now you are at a cross road! You have to feed your addiction because your body so desperately needs it, or you make the decision to FIGHT the hardest battle of your life!

It's a choice only you can make. You can decide to keep going around that vicious, and spiraling out of control life -  or you can make the first step, and decide to fight! It's a fight you have to fight like a warrior. But, a warrior doesn't go into battle un prepared, and she or he doesn't go into battle to lose. She goes into battle to win, and to stay victorious! That is what you want. To know you can win, and to know you can stay victorious. Isn't that what you want? To be victorious? Also, to know that your addiction can no longer have control over you, and your life? (Stay tuned for Part II of  "FIGHT LIKE A WARRIOR!"

IN THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY (PART III - CONCLUSION)

IN THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY
(PART III - CONCLUSION)

TRIGGERS:

We all have our triggers. Some of us have more than one. The important thing is to recognize them, so you can see them coming, and try to avoid them at all cost. If you can't avoid them, you will know how to get through them. Here are a list of triggers I've experienced.. Maybe, some of these are the same triggers as yours. If not - you may have to start to make a mental self evaluation of the times you've gotten depressed in the past to see what triggered yours, that way you can try to avoid them or see them coming... I makes it easier to handle the experience if you understand why you are feeling the way you are.

TRIGGERS:
  1. Financial difficulties
  2. Family crisis
  3. Anger
  4. Unexpected experiences will throw me off my game
  5. Too much self evaluation of negative things in my life
  6. Unaccomplished goals - I put them on a shelf, and only look at them when I'm ready to work on them. I set a time limit as to how long I leave them on that shelf.
  7. Too much excitement - Ya - go figure! It makes me feel smothered. I have to slow down!
  8. Expected goals. This is a tough one for me. I'm a procrastinator.
  9. Trauma - mental, physical, or emotional such at a death in the family
  10. Dwelling on bad experiences from the past - or dwelling on anything negative too long!
I'm sure I could probably come up with some more, but those are the ones I can thing of right now.

THE PAIN & SELF DISCRIMINATION

Out of all those triggers, the one that sticks out the most is number 10. I say this because all the other 9 triggers result in the same thought process. We dwell on them too long or too much! As a result we have a tendency to form an opinion about ourselves based on our emotions - which at times is not always positive. We need to reverse that thought process - by controlling our thoughts - our emotions will follow. I love these scriptures that really puts it into perspective for me. (II Corinthians 10:3-6 - 3) For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4) For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the  pulling down of strongholds; 5) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing  into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6) And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.) I know it sounds cliché, but it works. God put it to me this way "Tricia do you want to live - or do you want to die!?" As you know, when you are depressed, you feel like you are dying. Unless you have gone through this, you know exactly what I am talking about.

SOLITUDE WITH GOD = EQUALS = VICTORY

The only way I was able to get victory is SOLITUDE WITH GOD, and His word! It's in His presence when I can come to God as I am. I can experience, and reflect on God's awesomeness, so I can have faith in Him to perform this victorious miracle. It is in God's presence where I get the confidence from Him, because God shows me - me - through His eyes! Jesus shows me who I really am. In God's kingdom there is only victory, and in God's eyes I am victorious! You can do anything when you see yourself through God's eyes. You are PERFECT IN HIS EYES!

HAVING JOY THROUGH DEPRESSION

When I am in that dark place - I know God will let me cry, scream agonize in His presence. He doesn't judge me. He wants me to come to Him, and release my sorrows, and emotions. God showed me this is part of the healing process that I have to have with Him in order for me to have victory. (Psalm 30:5 - For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.) In the end of Nehemiah 8:10 It says "THE JOY OF THE LORD IS  YOUR STRENGTH." Also in (Psalm 89:15 - Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance.) This is where you will find the Joy of the Lord, and, you will find His strength to have victory. This is also how I have His Joy in depression. I know - now matter how I feel, I am in His perfect will, and I trust Him for the outcome which is VICTORY! It is His will that I have victory. He will NEVER leave you nor forsake thee. (Deuteronomy 6:5 - thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and  with all thy soul, and with all thy might.)

THE PERFECT PLACE IN TIME - WHEN TIME STANDS STILL

(Psalms 91:1 - He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.) This secret place is a special place, it's real, and it's really not that secret. You just have to know how to get there! Here is how I get there! THROUGH JESUS! When I get with the Lord to pray I make it special. I close my bedroom door, and I lock it. I want it undisturbed. I make sure everyone in my house knows in a gentle way that I want to be alone with God. I don't go in my room all sad, and gloomy. The same with my friends. I just tell them I need some quiet time for a few days. They understand! I bring everything in my room that I might need or want for whatever time I decide to be undisturbed, candles, tea, water. Anything that will make me feel relaxed, and comfortable. If I need more time, then I come out of my room to refresh, then I go beck in my room, and lock the door again.

I take my Bible, and lay it on my chest if I'm on my bed, or lap if I'm sitting on my loveseat. I close my eyes, and pray. I don't stop until God tells me too! What do I pray for? I definitely praise God, and everything that God tells me to pray for. But, I also pray for myself, and other people. Sometimes my experiences are more intense then other times. But, that's okay! I'm in that perfect place in time - when time stands still, because I'm in God's realm - God's time. (2 Peter 3:8 - But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.) Well, in our realm, one day is 24 hours. But, when we enter into God's courts, and realm, one day is a thousand years, and a thousands years is one day. It feels like time just stands still. It is the most magnificent experience I've ever encountered. The joy I feel in God's presence is AWESOME! My heart beats faster at one point, then my heart calms down. (Psalms 38:9-10 - 9) Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not  hid from thee. My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.) (Psalms 42:1 - As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.) WOW!!!!! What exhilarating experience!

It may take a few minutes or a few times before you will have your very own experience. Everyone's experience is different. But, when you get yours, you will recognize it every time, and you will know what to expect. I promise you this, there is no way depression can stay in the presence of God. Once you experience God's Glory, you will not forget it! His peace is ever with you through out the day, and whenever you feel a sadness come over you - you will know it's time to pray. Sometimes I don't have to go in my room or lock the door! I just know it's time to pray for someone else who might be feeling sadness. So, I just pray. It's a GLORIOUS experience that will lead you to victory. Isn't that what you want? To experience victory? Knowing that you can have control, by letting God have control through His glorious glory. I say AMEN to that!

IN THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY (PART II)

IN THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY (PART II)

ONE FOOT IN FRONT OF THE OTHER

One of the things I love doing is staying inside, or indoors. I usually have to force myself to go out. I hate going shopping, unless I absolutely have to. I even have to force myself to go to church. As much as I love going to church - I would rather stay home, read my Bible, and pray! But, I can't! I have to get out no matter how hard it is. I have to put one foot in front of the other, and go! I definitely have to go to church. Once I get to church, I say to myself, "I made it - I'm here! God always blesses me too! Can you imagine having trouble going to church when you know how present the Lord is in church, how much God enjoys fellowship with His children, and how much God enjoys watching His children worshiping in the presence, and glory of God? Who wants to miss that? I don't! (Hebrew 10:25 - Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.)

A CONVERSATION WITH GOD

One time God told me - well He always tells me - This is how our conversation went - "Tricia! You have to get out today."  - "But I don't want to go out today Lord! Can't I just stay home, read my Bible, and pray or write?" - "No - Tricia! You have to go out today." Well, you can't argue with God! Why even try!  So, I finely get to the front door. God says to me - "Tricia what are you wearing?" I look down at myself, and I'm still in my PJ's. God says to me, "Tricia, go wash you hair and fix it - go put your make-up on, and put some nice clothes on." I say - "But Lord! That's going to take two hours! He says " That's okay Tricia! I have time!" So, of course I obey God, and of course I had a good time.

YOU HAVE TO

We all have our moments when we cry or have our private little meltdowns. You have to - I recommend it! You have to get all those ugly little hormones, chemicals, endorphins, out of your body. Or, the brains function of dealing with (monoamines such as serotonin and norepinephrine.) Boy! That's a mouth full!

ON THE RIGHT TRACK

Well! One day I was having one of those moments. I was at a point in my life where I was doing some serious self evaluation about some things in my life that I wasn't happy about, and trying to change them to make myself happier. I thought I was doing everything right. I was reading my Bible, praying, exercising, and losing weight. I was even writing again. I even started back working on my book "FINDING YOUR WAY HOME IS VICTORY!"  I thought I was making great strides in my life, and I was excited about new things God was doing in me. I knew I had a long way to go. But, I also knew I was on the right track.

GOD PLEASE!

I was in my room. All I could do was cry, and curled myself up in a ball! I was so tired of this! I wanted it to just go away! I started praying. I said "GOD! PLEASE! I don't want this any more! Please tell me what to do to make this go away! I'm doing everything I know to do Lord! What else can I do?" God said to me, "Tricia! Pray - It's not you! It's someone else that needs praying for! Pray for them, and don't stop until it subsides." One thing God has taught me through this experience is feeling other people's pain even though I'm feeling pain. Knowing that God can use me as a mediator for when someone else is experiencing the same pain I'm feeling brings me healing, victory, and joy. I did exactly what God told me to do, and the agony did subside. Then later, God, and I had a long conversation about what He told me, and why. (James 5:16 - Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.)

GOD'S SOLUTION

I never thought I could experience such joy at the same time I'm experiencing such agony. There is joy, strength, healing, power, and victory. All the things you think aren't there at such a time when you need it is inside you. Find out in Part III how God takes me through the darkest of times to joy everlasting, and victory. Being able to see your self as a person that decides that you will only settle for victory in your life is something, and it is what God see's in you. It is also how it is in God's kingdom! Isn't that what you want? To be able to know you can fight your battles, and feel God fighting your battles with you - knowing how victorious you really are? Read Part III where I share exactly what I do with God every time, and how overcome the dark times.

IN THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY (PART I)

IN THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY (PART I)

PANTETH MY SOUL

Finding the words about how I feel when I'm praying to the Lord is almost impossible. But - with God nothing is impossible, and with God all things are possible. The joy, and peace I get is just one of the rewards I get when I go into His presence - our special place - where I find, and feel the connection of oneness with God - my creator, my mighty God - my forever God. Being able to find, and feel God's awesomeness is breath taking - it takes my breath away - It's physically overwhelming!

(Plalms 42:1 - As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.) Telling God how I feel about His awesomeness - His beauty - His strength - His power - His Love, is beyond words I can imagine or express. The joy He feels when I do express how I feel is my reward - I feel His joy - His awesomeness - His beauty - His strength - His power - His Love. GOD IS  ABSOLUTELY BREATH TAKING!

BUT - IN THE DARKEST OF TIMES

It is also in His presence where I draw from God's strength to win all my victories when I find myself in the darkest of places. I do have those moments when I am looking at myself through mine own eyes - not God's eyes. All I see are my insecurities, things that I haven't accomplished, mistakes I've made. Or, even just dealing with the daily mundane things of life. Sometimes you feel it coming from every side of you, and you just can't shake it. All I can do is curl up in a ball, and cry, along with that horrible sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that you just want to go away.

You can't talk to anybody about it - You wouldn't want to burden anybody with a pity-party - as some people may call it, because they don't understand depression, they don't know how to comfort someone with a broken spirit. Or, worse yet, they think depression is contagious. So, they stay away, and judge you. They don't know how to battle depression - a battle they haven't battled.

DEPRESSION - A BATTLE TO BE WON

Depression is a battle against dark forces, or sometimes a chemical imbalance for some. It takes supernatural strength to overcome, and that supernatural strength can only come from God Himself. For some, having a good doctor with experience. One that understands depression, and can prescribe the proper medication. But, it is a battle you can have victory over. Jesus said in (Matthew 11:28 - "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.") Also, it says in (Isaih 40:31 - But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.)

GOD UNDERSTANDS DEPRESSION

God understands depression, and Jesus does too! In the garden of Gethsemane, when Jesus prayed three times. He was in such agony that was unimaginable! So much agony that it appeared as though His sweat were great drops of blood falling down to the ground (Luke 22:44). When Jesus was dying on the cross, Jesus said "It is finished." (John 19:30) But that was just the crucifixion that was finished. Am I saying Jesus was depressed - absolutely not! But, Jesus does understand agony. Jesus still agonizes for us, and intercedes for us daily. After Jesus gave up the Ghost the soldiers came and pierced his side. Blood and water came out. (John 19:34) A sign of a broken heart.

THE MIRACLE OF PRAYER - JOY

What might be surprising to you is finding victory over depression is finding joy through it!

STEPS I TAKE THAT GOD TAUGHT ME

1) Accepting you have it.
2) Choosing to have victory over it.
3) Choosing to do something about it.
4) Finding joy through it.
5) PRAY! A lot!

In (Part II) I will share some experiences that God took me through, and how I walk daily with Him so I can have victory over depression with His joy. I'm sure you're asking how can you have joy in depression, and be victorious at the same time. Trust me you can! Isn't that what you want - joy instead of depression?

KNOWING YOU ARE VICTORIOUS - WOW!

KNOWING YOU ARE VICTORIOUS  -  WOW!

When I saw this picture - I said, "WOW!" A million things ran through my head about these men,
and the honor they represent for our country, the battles that they've won, and the camaraderie between soldiers. Plus, their personal  victories. I also saw how these same principals can be applied to living a victorious life. I saw physical battles, and spiritual battles that were won, and
can be won. I'd like to share with you what I saw, and how you can apply it to your life. Some
people might look at this picture, and think, "Oh - they are just standing in the rain - what's the
big deal about that!" But, I see so much more! SO MUCH MORE!

These men were not just standing up against the storm - they were standing in the storm, and the battle has already been won! These soldiers were able to stand there because the battle has already be won. They didn't look to the right or to the left. The were stead fast, and strong, they were courageous because of who they are, and they knew who they were before they even went into battle. But, how did they get to that point of courage, strength, and victory? I'm going to use some Bible scriptures to help me get my point across.

FIRST - THE CHOISE TO BATTLE FOR VICTORY - AT ALL COST

These soldiers didn't just wake up one morning to see themselves victorious soldiers, and all the battles won! They knew what the battle was, and they could see their enemy right in front of them! But, no battle is won, and no victory to claim until you fight for it. But, before that could happen, they had to decide that they were going to go into the battle, and most importantly they were going to go into battle to win the battle at all cost. Even if it cost them their lives!

Jesus did the same thing. He had to decide He was going to go into the biggest battle ever to be overcome by any man for mankind. It was the battle He was chosen for that only He could fight, and only He could win -  destined to be won only by God himself. Jesus made that decision when He was praying in the Garden Of Gethsemane - (Matthew 26:39 - And He went a little further, and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as  thou wilt.) Jesus prayed this prayer three times! The moment Jesus prayed "Not as I will, but as thou wilt." He made the decision to fight the battle, and to win even though He knew what he was about to go through. IT WAS HIS DESTINY TO FIGHT, AND HIS DESTINY TO WIN!

THE ULTIMATE CHOICE

I made a choice 40 years ago to turn away from drugs, and alcohol. I never looked back! But, I couldn't have done it unless I made the ultimate choice - to accept Jesus as my Lord, and Savior. Then came the power of God's might when I decided to wear the Full Armour of God so
I can stay victorious. (John 3:16-17 - 16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have ever lasting life. 17) For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world: but that the world through him might be saved.)
(1 John 5:4 - For whatsoever is born of God overometh the world; and this is the victory that overcometh the world even our faith.) (Isiah 25:8 - He will swallow up death in victory;...) (Matthew 11:28 - Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.) WOW! What words to stand on! WHAT POWER!

PREPARE FOR BATTLE

As with any soldier he has to prepare for battle . He must arm himself with the weaponry needed to win. He puts on a helmet, a bullet proof vest, a sword or gun that gives him power, and other ammunition to protect himself, and boots for his journey. Most importantly is his shield of confidence or faith in himself knowing that he's entering a battle to win. - AND HE DOESN'T QUIT!

Jesus had to wear special armour too! Jesus not only had to fight what was here in the natural realm, by the hands of sadistic men that had been influenced by the same demonic forces of sin since the fall of Adam, and Eve - that wanted to steal the spirits, and souls of every man. Jesus fought, and won the battle over Satan, and all his demonic forces that enslaved mankind. His armor was The Full Armour of God - (Ephesians 6:10-18 - in verse 10) It says "Finely, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.) Then it describes in verses 11-18 what God's power of His might is. JESUS IS PROOF OF GOD'S POWER!

When you put on the Full Armour of God you are putting on God's power of His might - God's strength! In verse 13) it says, "Wherefore take unto you the WHOLE armour of God, that ye me be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Every part of the armour of God is an attribute of God's strength, and His power. Now, in verse 18) it tells us how to keep God's armour on. NEVER TAKE IT OFF! It says in verse 18) "Praying always with all prayer, and supplication in the  Spir'it, and  watching thereunto with all perseverance, and supplication for all saints;") Praying always, and praying for all the saints is what keeps the full armour of God on, and keeps us in victory. Being victorious is ever present.

I tried to pull certain scriptures from Ephesians: 10-18, to bring my point across. But, the truth of the matter - I can't pull out certain scriptures without diminishing from God's word. There isn't one part of the Full Armour of God that doesn't work without the all the parts in tact, and it only works if you have Jesus in your heart. A soldier or warrior doesn't wear parts of his armour - he wears all of it.

THE FULL ARMOUR OF GOD

Ephesians 6: 10-18:  10) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. 11) Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13) Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14) Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15) And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16) Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17) And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spir'it, which is the word of God: 18) Praying slways with all prayer and supplication in the Spir'it, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints:...

A soldier or warrior for God PLUNGES into battle with one purpose in mind TO WIN! (Proverbs 4:27 says, "Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove they foot from evil." Just like these soldiers in the picture. They didn't turn their heads to the right or to the left. They plunged into battle, and they kept their eyes on the battle that has already been won. Also, remove thy foot from evil. Don't go out in the areas where you will be tempted to sin. LOOK NOT TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT. Keep your eyes on the victory!

RUN!

When you resist the devil you are already victorious. The devil can't touch you! (James 4:7 - Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.) Just because you are tempted doesn't mean you have sinned! When you recognize that you are being tempted stop, and RUN the other way - PLUNGE into victory! If you will resist the devil he will flee. He becomes powerless. He knows he has lost the battle. In Deuteronomy 6:5 - It says, "And thou shalt love the Lord thy God withal thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all they might.") (Jeremiah 1:12 It says " Then Said the Lord unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.) God watches over His word to perform it. God stands behind His word. He will not leave you alone for you to fight your battles on your own. But, you do have to do your part.

SOME  PRACTICLE SUGGESTIONS

I know I have mentioned some of these suggestions in the past on how you can avoid temptation, but I stand by them. So, I will repeat them, and add some more.

STAY AWAY  - At all cost stay away from any thing or any one that does any thing that you can be tempted with. Be practical, and smart!
DON'T - Don't go looking for your temptations - recognize what triggers you might have, and stay away from those triggers. If one creeps up, just turn around , and physically walk the other way or RUN! Don't put yourself in a situation that will lead you into temptation.
DO NOT - I recommend not making any decisions when you are being tempted. It is very easy to feel spontaneous when you are being tempted - you want instant gratification to feel relief instead of overcoming your weakness. (Especially financial decisions!) You think you are resisting, but all you are doing is escaping. You have to confront your weakness to be victorious. Now confronting your weakness is not the same thing as putting yourself in harms way. It simply means BEING ON  GUARD! Always keeping your eye's open to recognize temptation before it strikes, and escaping is not the same thing as running away from your temptation.
STAY OUT -  If you are single stay out of any relationships. I know, this is a very difficult one, but - I highly recommend it. When you are trying to overcome drugs, alcohol or depression there is a tendency to want human comfort. Chances are you will end up in a bad relationship. Sometimes you can end up in a relationship with someone that has the same weakness' you have - then it becomes the blind leading the blind. I would rather not be in a relationship at all, and be alone than to be in the wrong relationship that could be disastrous.
FELLOWSHIP - You have to have a strong support system. There is strength in numbers. If you are overcoming drugs - go to a Narcotics Annominous (N.A.) meetings. If you are overcoming alcohol - go to a Alcoholics Annominous (A.A.) meetings. But, don't date any body from your meetings when you are struggling with temptation. It will only lead to more temptation. Also, finding a good church to go to.

FINAL QUESTION

To become a warrior over your own battles - to  overcome drugs, and alcohol, you have to fight, and fight hard - with all your might. You are fighting for your life. You have to decide to stop going down that dark, and dreary road that will only lead to death. Let Jesus show you how He has already fought that battle for you. Jesus has made that way for you to be victorious.

So, I leave you with a final question! Do you want to live a victorious life free from drugs, and alcohol?

FINDING YOUR WAY HOME IS VICTORY (PART V - CONCLUSION)

FINDING YOUR WAY HOME IS VICTORY
(PART V - CONCLUSION)

YOUR PERFECT PLACE

If there is one place I would rather be with the Lord, it is that place that no one else but me and the Lord can go, and it is in that place the Lord wants to meet with everyone. It is a place where the Lord meets with me quite often, and it is that one place where the devil doesn't want you to go. It is that place that most people don't know exists in the way God wants us all to see, and experience it in our daily lives. YOUR PERFECT PLACE! That place where God knew you before you were born. That perfect place where Jesus was, and still is - that God gave the FIRST prophecy ever written in the Bible. A PLACE WHERE SATAN CAN NOT GO! - Because it's PERFECT! - And everything that is there is perfect. You were there once. IN GOD’S HEART, AND MIND! - And God wants you to come back. You may not remember that place, but it's there, and always has been there. That place that God spoke into existence - where you were conceived in his thoughts - not conceived in this realm, but God brought it into existence when He spoke it. He gave you the breath of life when you were conceived. God gave it to you, to come back to Him through Jesus.

REVEALED TO ME

God showed me this place one day when I was leaving church one day. I was almost out the door of the main sanctuary when God said "Tricia turn around!" So I did! When I turned around I saw a woman. She looked like me, but I didn't recognize her as me. I said to God "Who is she Lord?" He said "She is you!" I said "Lord! That's me? She is so confident - She is so strong, and victorious - like a warrior! She looks PERFECT Lord!" God told me "That is you - PERFECT! That is how I see you, and that is how I created you before you were born in this realm. She is who you are today. But, you have to accept her! You have to grow in me."

I didn't want to take my eyes off of her - or me. I didn't want to forget her - or me, and God didn't want me to forget me either. I haven't - I will never forget her, or me, because that is who I am in God's eyes - that is who I will be in my eyes. No matter what I am feeling - no matter what I am going through, I will always KNOW, BELIEVE, AND BE WHO I AM IN GOD'S EYES! That is what God wants for you too! Don't you want to see in yourself everything you ever believed you can be? (PROVERBS 23:7 - For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:...) Well - you can, because that IS who God created you to be. That is who God wants you to see in you. See you through God’s eyes.

DWELLETH AND ABIDETH

My favorite book in the Bible is the book of Psalms. My favorite chapter, and verses are:

(Psalms 91: 1-2 and 4.) 1) He that dwelleth in the SECRET place of the most High shall abideth under the shadow of the Almighty.

2) I WILL SAY of the Lord, He is my refuge, and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.

4) He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield, and buckler.

THIS IS THAT PLACE WHERE I STAY! That perfect place, where God knew me, and knows me. No matter how bad I feel - no matter how defeated I feel - no matter how SICK I FEEL in my stomach - I STAY IN THIS PLACE! - Even if I don't feel like I'm in this place - I KNOW I AM IN THIS PLACE! I know even when I feel defeated - I AM VICTORIOUS! - Because this is where God, and I are together, 24 hours a day - seven days a week.

If I stumble, and fall  - I am still in that place. God will never leave me nor forsake me. (JOHN 10:28  -  And I give them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.) God reaches out His hand to me - I get back up, and I hold on tight. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. The Joy of the Lord is my strength. I am not alone - I AM HOME. In God's eyes I am victorious - In God's eyes there is nothing but victory. GOD IS ALWAYS WITH ME! ALWAYS! WOW!

TOTAL SURRENDER

If you are an addict, or you have an addictive personality that doesn't mean you can't totally surrender to the Lord. What it does mean is that you have to get to that point where you are so sick, and tired of living the life where you are a slave to your addictions. Then get to the point where you want to totally surrender to the Lord. YOU HAVE TO DO BOTH! Get to that point, and totally surrender. It's inevitable that you do get to that point. It's not God's will for you to suffer with addiction. He created you to be victorious, and free from your addictions. It was NEVER His will! You have to get to the point that you recognize who God created you to be. You need to see you. See who God sees you as. And - know, that if God sees you victorious, then it’s God’s will for you to be victorious.

YOU HAVE TO SEE IT - BELIEVE IT - AND KNOW IT!

You've held on to your addictions very strongly by your body's chemical need, or inherited genes. Now you have to let the Holy Ghost take your spirit back home to Him to have victory. You have to let the Holy Ghost take you back to that place where you were before you were born in this realm, -- so you can have total, and permanent victory. Then the Holy Ghost will bring that place back to this realm. So you, and God are in the same place in His realm, and in this realm. That place where you will have total peace, and strength. HIS STRENGTH - HIS WILL IS HISTORY AND YOUR STRENGTH, AND YOUR FUTURE! That place is in your heart! You have to bring them together. Jesus - and your spirit in the same place, and time together. WOW! Talk about time travel!

MAKE THAT CONNECTION

If you are a Christian struggling with addiction, then you have already started on your journey. But, there might be some doors you need to close, and some steps you need to take to help with your victory. I've listed below all the doors I closed, and steps I took that helped me. Hopefully this message will bless you the same way God blessed me with it. I was born in 1956. I found my way home (got saved, asked Jesus into my heart) in 1976. I was 20 years old. I never looked back. It's been 40 years sober from alcohol, and clean from drugs. Escaping that life got me away from the people that were abusing me too! I never looked back until now, because God wants me to share my victories with you.

If you are not a Cristian - have not asked Jesus into your heart - accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. THAT TIME IS NOW! That special place in time before you were conceived - that special time in history - that special place in your future is all in the same place. This is your life we are talking about. This is your soul we are talking about. Nothing you have tried has worked. You are at a crossroad! Jesus is the way for you to have a do-over! To ask for forgiveness - to change the mistakes you are making, to get rid of the physical pain, and emotional pain you are experiencing, to begin your healing. To make your life new.

DOORS TO CLOSE - AND STEPS TO FOLLOW

It's not going to be easy! But, with Jesus in your heart, and you letting Him direct your path it will be 100% clearer, and easier. However, there are some doors you have to close, and some steps that are very important, and practical so you can have victory, and stay victorious. These are the very doors I closed, and steps I used right after I found my way home. I will also give you some scriptures I used to stand on too!

(I Corinthians 10:13 - There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.)

  1. Before I was able to make any decisive changes in my life (other than the changes that Jesus miraculously did in my life) that would be permanent, I had to close some doors, and keep them shut to avoid temptation. I locked those doors, and threw away the key.

  2. I closed every door that had a temptation of anything I was trying to overcome behind it.

  3. I didn't go looking for temptation either.

  4. That means, I had to stay away from people, and locations that I used to hang-out with, or hang-out at. If there was anything that reminded me of what I used to be, then I stayed away from that place, or thought.

THE ONLY DOOR TO OPEN

(Revelation 3:20 - Behold I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.)

How do I open this door? I stay in God’s word. I pray, and have fellowship with true believers of Christ. Not Christians that will lead you into temptation. They are committed to Christ with their whole life.

STEPS TO TAKE

(James 4:7 - Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.)

  1. This may sound repetitive - but, If you want to be victorious, and stay victorious then you have to unfortunately say goodbye to anyone - everyone, that is doing the things that you are trying to resist, or overcome. I stopped going to the bars, I stopped hanging out with friends that wanted to do drugs, or other drug addicts, or other drug dealers - I stopped selling drugs. You can't expect not to be tempted, or to be able to resist temptation if you are still surrounding yourself with all the things that you are trying to resist!

  2. Surround yourself with a strong support system. Whether it is a church, AA support group, NA support group, AL Anon support group, or Al lateen support group.

  3. Read your Bible daily

  4. Pray daily.

A FINAL NOTE

PUT ON

THE FULL ARMOUR OF GOD

 EPHESIANS 6:10-8:

10) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.

11) Put on the whole armour of  God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers  of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13) Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14) Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15) And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16) Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able  to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17) And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18) Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

Do every bit of what is in those scriptures - THEN HAVING TO DONE ALL,

TO STAND. There is no other way to say it. Having to do everything to stand!

Are you at that point in your life? Are you ready to surrender to the Lord? Now is that time to be victorious - to be a warrior for your own life. YOU CAN DO IT. Trust me. If I can do it - you can do it. Jesus will be with you every step of the way. I know you don't want to do this battle alone. I know this, because I've been there. Don't do it alone. Do it with Jesus.
